New partnership to improve Canadian supply chains

Ashcroft Terminal and Vancouver Fraser Port Authority have signed a letter of intent for a long-term arrangement about the transportation of Canadian imports and exports.

In particular, the organisations will work together to invest, build and operate rail infrastructure at Ashcroft Terminal to reduce congestion within the Port of Vancouver, support capacity growth and enhance resiliency within the critical Asia-Pacific Gateway trade corridor.

Pop-up container yards act as a pressure valve for port congestion

Walmart has developed an empty space near the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach into a pop-up container yard.

Canadian container importer acquires 25% stake in Ashcroft Terminal

The single largest container importer in Canada, Canadian Tire Corporation will acquire a 25% equity interest in Ashcroft Terminal Limited according to an investment agreement signed by the two companies.

PSA International Pte Ltd will continue as the operator and retain a majority interest of 60%, with the remaining 15% interest held by founding partner CrescentView Investments Ltd.

Canadian retailer buys stake in British Columbia’s largest inland port

Canadian Tire is acquiring a 25% stake in Ashcroft Terminal, the largest inland port in British Columbia, in a deal that will allow the Canadian retailer to move containers more efficiently from the Port of Vancouver and improve access to CN and Canadian Pacific rail capacity.

Ashcroft Terminal announced the CA$40 million ($32 million) deal on Thursday. Operator PSA International will retain a 60% stake in the transloading and intermodal facility.
