First condensate cargo from Ichthys LNG project departs

Japanese INPEX Corporation announced the departure of its first shipment of condensate from the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG Project. The cargo departed on 1st October from the Project’s massive offshore floating production, storage and offloading facility -the Ichthys Venturer- moored in the Browse Basin, 136 miles off the northwest coast of Western Australia.

Master, owners to be charged over large oil spill in Darwin Harbour

Australia’s Northern Territory Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has commenced legal proceedings against the master and owners of a ship responsible for a large oil spill in Darwin Harbour on 19 August 2016. The legal proceedings follow a complex, two year investigation by DENR and the Northern Territory Environment Protection Authority (NT EPA) into the oil spill.

Australia’s new Antarctic icebreaker successfully floated out

Australia’s Antarctic Supply Research Vessel (ASRV) RSV Nuyina was successfully floated at Damen Shipyards Galati. The procedure was achieved by raising the water level in the yard’s dry dock by six metres. The process took two days to complete.

The vessel was manoeuvred 250 metres to a quayside berth where the construction and outfitting process will take place. Damen is building the 160-metre long ASRV on behalf of the Australian Department of the Environment and Energy.
