World’s first electric pusher tug is powered by EST-Floatech batteries

The world’s first electric pusher tug, Kotug International’s E-Pusher Type M, is now, as we reported earlier, transporting cocoa beans for Cargill from the Port of Amsterdam, the largest cocoa import port in the world, to Cargill’s cocoa factory in Zaandam, the Netherlands. Inside the tug is a container with an EST-Floatech battery system that supplies all its energy needs.

EST-Floattech’s team developed the custom built containerized solution with its Octopus High Energy modules in a process...

Transportation solar panels solve parasitic drains and short battery life

Carriers have faced a range of industry and economic challenges over the past couple of years, forcing many fleets to operate on razor-thin margins. For these companies, the unforeseen maintenance costs and downtime accompanying dead truck batteries could be enough to jeopardize their profitability.

The Threat of Parasitic Drain

To safeguard their companies against this risk, fleet leaders should be aware of the parasitic draw or the energy that drains from a truck battery when not in use. This...

Volvo, Mack replacing batteries on electric trucks because of fire risk

Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks are recalling nearly all the battery-powered electric trucks made over the past four years because of an issue that can cause a battery fire.

The recall is the fourth for the trucks since they entered series production in 2022. The latest recall affects 173 Volvo and nine Mack vehicles built between April 1, 2019, and Feb. 10, 2023.

Battery-powered electric trucks are still relatively new on the market. Some of the issues are consistent with new...

Your Car Would Get Charged Aplenty Before You Finish Your Morning Toast!

A battery that includes tiny heaters inside it can be charged to 70 per cent, the equivalent to a range of more than 300 kilometers for an electric car, in just 11 minutes.

Quicker Than a Phone Charge !

A self-heating lithium-ion battery can charge to 70 per cent in just 11 minutes. The design could allow electric cars to be “refueled” nearly as fast as petrol ones. We already knew that heating lithium-ion batteries enables them to be charged faster, but it can cause damage and even fires. Now,...
