Bollinger Shipyards lays keel for ULA’s new SpaceShip

Bollinger Shipyards yesterday held a ceremony at its Bollinger Marine Fabricators shipyard in Amelia, La., to lay the keel for the future R/S SpaceShip.

SpaceShip is being built for ULA (United Launch Alliance) to transport Vulcan rockets from the ULA factory in Decatur, Ala., to the launch sites at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida and Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The RO/RO ship is the second transport vessel in ULA’s maritime fleet.

Bollinger Shipyards delivers ATB to Crowley Fuels

Bollinger Shipyards Lockport LLC has delivered an articulated tug-barge (ATB) unit capable of transporting multiple clean petroleum products in the Alaska market to Crowley Fuels LLC — the Alaska-based petroleum transportation, distribution and sales unit of Crowley Maritime Corp.

The Alaska class ATB unit consists of one twin Z-drive, 7,000-hp, 128’x85’x32′ ocean tugboat paired with a 400’x85’x32′ 100,000-bbl. ocean barge.
