Legal woes plague Central Freight Lines

Digital freight brokerage Mothership Technologies is suing less-than-truckload carrier Central Freight Lines (CFL) for nearly $508,000 in unpaid invoices, citing breach of contract.

The lawsuit alleges that Waco, Texas-based CFL, a 95-year-old LTL carrier owned by Jerry Moyes, stopped paying Mothership, a Los Angeles-based freight matching company, in mid-October.

Carriers owed thousands after lumber processor files for bankruptcy

Northland Corp., a hardwood processor, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on July 27.

Several trucking companies and freight brokerages are owed thousands of dollars after a Kentucky-based lumber processor filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Monday.

Northland Corp., headquartered in La Grange, Kentucky, filed its petition in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Kentucky.

In its filing, Northland lists both its assets and liabilities as between $1 million and $10 million and states it has up to 199 creditors.

Legal woes force Florida carrier to file for bankruptcy protection

Florida-based DM World Transportation LLC of Longwood, Florida, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. This action comes just two weeks after a trailer leasing company filed a motion for final summary judgment in a breach of contract lawsuit against the carrier and its CEO for nearly $1.3 million.
