Lack of progress on Brexit concerns ESC

The European Shippers’ Council is concerned about a lack of progress on Brexit negotiations and is supporting its member, the UK’s Freight Transport Association (FTA) in their call for EU and UK leaders to prioritize urgent mitigation measures.

Pauline Bastidon, head of European policy at FTA, commented: “In the event of No Deal – a scenario identified as a serious possibility by both sides – new agreements would be needed to allow trucks, planes and trains to cross the borders with the EU, keep...

‘Good news’ from Whitehall generates anger in logistics sector, yet again

Two UK government pledges this week, purportedly in support of logistics, have left the industry both surprised and disappointed.
While there was some cheer for beleaguered hauliers, as Whitehall announced it had frozen increases on fuel duty again, the Freight Transport Association (FTA) argued that it was a missed opportunity.
“A 10p per litre cut would increase economic activity by nearly 1% in just one year, creating over a quarter of a million jobs,” …
