Two bulkers collide on Singapore anchorage

Two bulk carriers, ‘Spring Snow’ and ‘Klima’, collided on 4 July within Singapore port waters. The incident took place while the two vessels were performing bunkering operations. The damages to ‘Spring Snow’ are not known, while ‘Klima’ sustained hull breach in the cargo hold area, as well as water ingress.

As local media report, the two bulkers collided as they were conducting bunkering operations.

Q2 2019 sees record low for newbuild orders

As VesselsValue’s Head Cargo Analyst, Olivia Watkins, reviews which yards have received orders and and which vessel types have been popular purchases, it is revealed that newbuilding orders fell to record lows during the second quarter of 2019.

The overall number of bulker newbuild orders reduced 73% for the first half of 2019, in comparison to the same period in 2018. Specifically, so far this year, Panamaxes have been the most popular size to order.

Bulker refused access to Paris MoU

Paris MoU informed that the M/V ‘Discover’ was detained in the Port of Dordrecht, the Netherlands, on 27 June 2019. This is the third detention in the Paris MoU region within the last 24 months. The ship carries the flag of Moldova, which is black on the current Paris MoU WGB list.
