Maryland’s US Wind project passes a key regulatory milestone

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has released its final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for US Wind’s proposed Maryland offshore wind project, which includes three planned phases. Two of those phases, MarWin and Momentum Wind, have received offshore renewable energy certificates from the State of Maryland.

BOEM moves ahead on more offshore wind projects

In a clutch of announcements today, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) said that it has completed its environmental review of the proposed Sunrise Wind energy project, is proposing an offshore wind sale in the Central Atlantic and is working with the State of Maryland to identify a wind area of similar potential to an area that has now been removed from the proposed Central Atlantic sale, thus enabling the state to achieve its 8.5 GW offshore wind goal.

BOEM sets new date for much delayed oil and gas Lease Sale 261

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) has now set a new date for Gulf of Mexico oil and gas Lease Sale 261. As we reported earlier, on November 14, a court ruled against any further delay of the sale.

Moving ahead on plans for offshore wind development in the Gulf of Maine, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) yesterday identified a Draft Wind Energy Area (WEA) there, opening a 30-day public review and comment period.

Virginia offshore wind project marks a regulatory milestone

Dominion Energy reports that its Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project reached a major regulatory milestone today when the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management announced that it had completed its environmental analysis of the 2.6-gigawatt project planned off the Virginia Beach coast.
