Honor Foods announced Monday the expansion of its food service distribution network in the western United States through acquisition. The company’s parent, Burris Logistics, acquired Los Angeles-based R.W. Zant, which specializes in the storage and distribution of meats and proteins.

BJ’s latest retailer to secure its own capacity, acquiring assets from Burris Logistics

In what is quickly becoming a growing trend, another major retailer is acquiring a transportation provider to help secure its supply chain.

BJ’s Wholesale Club announced it is acquiring four refrigerated distribution centers and the related private fleet of longtime transportation partner Burris Logistics.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter.

Trinity Logistics adds Western brokerage office

Third-party logistics provider Trinity Logistics announced Monday it has acquired Team Eagle Logistics. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed but a press release said that Team Eagle Logistics, an Arizona-based broker, has grown annual revenue to $53 million since it was founded in 2014.

The deal brings Trinity its seventh regional office and expands its footprint in the West.
