West Coast gets $102M for electric truck corridor

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $102 million to build an electric truck freight corridor along the U.S. West Coast.

The West Coast Truck Charging and Fueling Corridor Project, managed by the California Department of Transportation, will deploy charging and hydrogen fueling stations for medium- and heavy-duty electric trucks along 2,500 miles of freight corridors in California, Oregon and Washington, according to the grant application.

California expected to accelerate deadline for zero-emissions trucks

The California Air Resources Board has thrown open the door on comments to its proposed Advanced Clean Fleet (ACF) rule, which sees a phaseout of diesel-powered trucks in the state, even as CARB still does not have the waiver it needs to make it a reality.

That proposal includes an acceleration of the target for requiring zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) in the state’s trucking sector to 2036. That date had been 2040.
