Nine months after opening its new Robotic Paint and Blasting facility, C&C Marine and Repair has announced the blasting of its 100th barge.
The Robotic Paint and Blast facility represents the shipyard’s continued commitment to adopting new technology and employing best practices, particularly as it relates to protecting the environment. C&C Marine and Repair, Belle Chasse, La., recently delivered to Upper River Services, St. Paul, Minn., the Mendota, a new 2,013-hp, 76’x30′ x9’4″ triple-screw towboat. The new towboat is the first new construction vessel ever built for Upper River Services. C&C Marine completed construction of the Mendota in less than six months.

Belle Chasse, La., based C&C Marine and Repair has announced the opening of its new indoor, climate controlled, Paint and Blast Facility. The 83,350 sq. ft. facility can accommodate barges up to 320’x75’x20′ and will be able to blast and paint a standard 30,000 bbl. tank barge or two 10,000 bbl. tank barges in 7-10 days.

WorkBoat has named its 10 Significant Boats of 2018. This year’s list included four passenger vessels, two of them ferries. Other selections: two ATBs, a tug, water taxi, towboat, fire-rescue boat and an LNG bunker barge.
