Multiple people missing in Alaska fishing vessel capsize

The Coast Guard and Good Samaritans have been searching since Sunday for a number of people from a fishing vessel that reportedly capsized near Couverden Point, Alaska.

Coast Guard watchstanders have received reports from individuals familiar with those aboard the vessel that indicate there were five people aboard. This number has not been confirmed and is subject to change pending new information.

U.K. MAIB reports on deadly capsize of tug Biter

The U.K. Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) has now published its accident investigation report into the girting [girding] and capsize of the tug Biter off Greenock, Scotland on February 2023. Biter was attached to the stern of the passenger vessel Hebridean Princess and the tug’s two crew were unable to escape from the capsized vessel and lost their lives.

2 more bodies recovered after Seacor Power capsizing

The U.S. Coast Guard announced the recovery of two more bodies from a boat that capsized Tuesday off the coast of Louisiana.

A total of 19 crew members were on board the Seacor Power, a commercial lift boat, when it overturned during rough weather 8 miles south of Port Fourchon, Louisiana.

Six crew members were rescued Tuesday. Two bodies were recovered by Thursday, with two more found Friday, the Coast Guard announced.
