Cargo volume at India’s ports increase marginally

India’s 12 major ports achieved a marginal 1.14% growth in cargo volumes at 585.72 million tonnes (MT) during the April-January period of the current fiscal year. More specifically, the ports had handled 579.10 MT of cargo during the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.

Port of New York, New Jersey set handling record in 2019

The Port of New York and New Jersey announced that managed 7.471.131 TEUs in total, marking a 4.1% increase, while broke the previous annual record of 7.179.788 TEUs in 2018. According to its financial reports for 2019, New York and New Jersey handled 5.231.418 loaded TEUs, surpassing the loaded imports handled by the Port of Long Beach.

Port of Savannah to get new container terminal space

Griff Lynch, executive director of the Georgia Ports Authority, announced the acquisition of 145 contiguous acres to the Port of Savannah, or more than 1 million twenty-foot equivalent container units in annual capacity.

Mr. Lynch also announced that Garden City Terminal dock construction had been completed, and can now serve three 14,000-TEU vessels, and up to eight vessels at the same time.

Port of Lüderitz on track to handle double amount of manganese exports

The Port of Lüderitz, Namibia, is on track to double the volume of South African Manganese shipped through the port. In fact, last month, the first 30,000 tons for the year was shipped and since 30 August 2019, in total 150,000 tons have been shipped.

Regarding port operation, the Lüderitz team aimed to have the vessel loaded and sailing in three days, and managed to load 12,000 tons per day.

Coconut charcoal to have caused the fire on Yantian Express

HAROPA sees 5% drop in maritime traffic in 2019

Batangas Container Terminal achieves record container throughput

Batangas Container Terminal (BCT) has achieved its the highest container throughput it has handled since the beginning commercial operations in 2010. Overall, the BCT handled over 310,000 TEUs.

The figure marks a 25% increase from 2018’s volume, keeping BCT’s double-digit cargo growth over the past six years. This achievement also reduced about 150,000 truck trips from Metro Manila’s roads, with consignees choosing to ship cargoes through BCT.
