Railroads say freight theft cost more than $100 million in 2024

Cargo theft cost U.S. Class I railroads more than $100 million in 2024, the Association of American Railroads said, calling for more federal efforts to address the problem and more effective prosecution of those arrested.

CargoNet warns of increased cargo theft risk during Thanksgiving holiday

The risk of cargo theft is expected to increase during Thanksgiving, according to CargoNet, which urges transportation companies to be vigilant during the holiday.
