No let up in volatility for air cargo market

Trailing data released Tuesday by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) showed total air cargo volume in April plunged 27.7%, year-over year because of the global recession caused by the coronavirus crisis. NWSA container volumes plunge in March due to ongoing pandemic

Covid-19 seems to have a strong impact on the Northwest Seaport Alliance, affecting its container volumes massively. The NWSA handled 264,133 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) in March 2020 as total container volumes dropped significantly by 21.6%, compared to March 2019. Full imports declined 28.2% while full exports decreased 8.6% year over year.

Ghana expects increased cargo volumes in 2020

Ghana’s ports will anchor increases in cargo volumes in 2020 following the positioning of Tema and Takoradi Ports as transhipment and oil and gas hubs respectively.

Cargo volume dropped 3.5% last month at the Port of Long Beach as restrictive tariffs continued to drag on the national supply chain.

SC Ports continues to see strong volumes

South Carolina Ports Authority has seen strong volumes in the first four months of fiscal year 2020 with growth in both containerized and vehicle cargo.
