Death toll from the Tanzanian ferry ‘MV Nyerere’ has reached 224, after the vessel capsized in Lake Victoria on Thursday, Tanzanian authorities informed, while the ship’s managers have been detained for questioning.

Lessons learned from deadly explosion during tank cleaning

Hong Kong Marine Department shared valuable lessons learned from a violent explosion that occurred at the port side manifold on main deck of an oil/chemical tanker during cargo tank cleaning operation. Fire broke out on board vessel due to overloading of multiplug

Unplanned deployment of free fall lifeboat alongside vessel

As IMCA informed, there was an unplanned deployment of a free fall lifeboat (FFB) on a vessel alongside, which no one noticed.  There were no witnesses to the incident, but a crew member noticed the boat in the water and investigation began.

At least 136 people were killed after the ferry ‘MV Nyerere’, estimated to be significantly overcrowded, capsized on Lake Victoria, Tanzania, on Thursday afternoon.
