Construction starts on Northern Lights’ LNG-fueled, wind-assisted CO2 carriers

China’s Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. (DSIC) has started the construction of two LNG-powered, wind-assisted CO2 carriers for Northern Lights, a joint venture of energy majors Shell, Equinor and TotalEnergies.

Equinor plots new CO2 carrier concept with compatriot ship design firm

Norwegian oil major Equinor has joined forces with compatriot ship design company Breeze Ship Design to develop a ship design concept for a CO2 carrier for direct offshore injection.

Hyundai Heavy Discloses New CO2 Shipping Solutions

According to an article published in BM Global, South Korea’s largest shipbuilding group, Hyundai, is pushing ahead with carbon dioxide shipping solutions.

Hyundai Mipo Dockyard outlined plans to develop a containment system for new CO2 carriers, supported by class society the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), while Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE), the group’s holding company, has revealed it is designing onboard carbon capture and storage systems.
