MARAD: $25 million available for America’s Marine Highway Program

The U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) today announced the availability of $25 million in funding for the America’s Marine Highway Program (AMHP), which supports the development and expanded use of America’s navigable waterways.

McCarthy starts work on $57.3 million Texas port project

McCarthy Building Companies has started work on Phase 2 of the Main Street Terminal 1 project at the Port of Beaumont in Texas.

This follows approval by the port’s Board of Commissioners of McCarthy’s $57.3 million construction bid for the project, which is aimed at increasing the port’s general cargo handling capacity by more than 15%.

The project includes demolition of a failed dock structure and construction of a new state-of-the-art general cargo dock.

Tidewater orders tug duo at Damen

Damen Shipyards reports that it has signed a contract with Houston-headquartered Tidewater Inc. (NYSE:TDW) for the supply of two Damen Stan Tugs 2309. Crowley Maritime’s ship assist and escort services group has agreed to charter its third Tier IV ship assist tug, Athena.
