24-kg cocaine found in a container at Malta port
Malta’s customs seized 24 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a container, with a street value of 2.7 million euros (3 million U.S. dollars), the Customs Department said on Tuesday, April 9, in a statement.
A total of 20 packets of cocaine were found in a reefer container at the Malta Freeport after several were scanned by the Customs Container Monitoring Unit.
The container was transshipping in Malta from South America, en-route to Tirana, Albania.

Two men were arrested Tuesday, April 2, after Canada Border Services Agency agents discovered nearly 100 kilograms of cocaine in a container at the Port of Montreal.
The arrests were the result of an ongoing Royal Canadian Mounted Police investigation.
According to a statement from the RCMP, the cocaine was discovered hidden in a container carrying a shipment of furniture.
Police believe the drugs originated in Mexico.
