A Singapore owned vessel, the Interasia Catalyst has reported a container fire that started on 4 April in a number of the containers on deck, with the captain sending a distress call at around 01:00, local time, shortly after the ship had left Port Klang, Malaysia.
The 2009-built vessel, which has a capacity of 4,200TEU, was en route to Cochin, India, when the fire was reported. Local reports said the captain sent a request to return to Port Klang.

Cochin Port looks at new revenue streams
The Cochin Port Trust (CPT) ended 2018-19 fiscal on a high with a cargo throughput of over 32 million tonnes and operating surplus of more than ₹210 crore.
The net profit rose from ₹13.55 crore during 2017-18 to ₹19.2 crore last year. The port managed to make an additional payment of ₹27.41 crore to the pension fund corpus. It also paid the first instalment of ₹55.85 crore towards an outstanding government debt.
