New ABS CLP-V(PARR) notation allows box ship operators to load more containers on deck

ABS has published a new notation that enables containership operators to load an additional tier of containers on deck with reduced risk of loss due to parametric rolling. Called
CLP-V(PARR), it combines the ABS Computer Lashing Program notation with mandatory parametric roll guidance to allow operators to optimize stowage and lashing of containers without loss of safety margin.

ONE Line Reports 60 Containers Overboard & 80 Damaged From ‘MV Madrid Bridge’ So Far

As per Customer Advisory dated January 10, 2021, MV Madrid Bridge, serving in East Coast 4 (EC4) Service, suffered container collapse in the North Atlantic Ocean during transit to her next port of call in New York, USA.

Based on initial investigations, it is estimated that approximately 60 units were overboard, and 80 units were damage. The numbers may be updated after further investigations.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) has released APL England to allow the ship to sail from Australia to undertake repairs in China.

The ship will leave the Port of Brisbane this evening without cargo and with a new Master.
