MSC to pay the full cost for MSC Zoe clean up

MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company announced that it will pay the full costs of the clean-up of the 2 January MSC Zoe container spill. The company will continue searching the sea for the containers which fell overboard, ‘until the last one is found’.

Oil spill from Maersk container ship during bunkering

An oil spill has occurred from the container ship Maersk Gateshead on January 6, in Hong Kong, at Kwai Tsing Container Terminal, where the ship was docked. Clean up operations have started but the exact amount of the oil spill is not known.

The oil spill took place as Maersk Gateshead was conducting bunkering operations while at berth at Modern Terminal Limited in Hong Kong.

Netherlands deploys troops to help in MSC Zoe clean up operation

Port of Cabinda, Angola hits record in handling ships and containers in 2018

The Port of Cabinda in Angola handled 17.552 empty and full containers during 2018. This is an increase of 5.880 containers, equal to 50.3% as stated by the port’s Chairman.

Baltic ports reach cargo turnover 5.6% in 11 months

In the first 11 months of 2018, all Baltic ports received and shipped 144.78 million tons of cargo, which surpassed the same period in 2017 by 5.6% or 7.665 million tons according to the Lithuanian Statistical Bureau.
