Operail to reduce traffic on Estonia’s highways

TALLINN – Operail, which on Feb. 13 carried out the first trip on the domestic Tartu-Sillamäe-Tartu container train line, has set itself the goal of reducing goods traffic on Estonia’s highways and increasing goods transport by rail.

FESCO enhances its China-Russia services

FESCO Transportation Group (the Group, FESCO) is launching a weekly container train from Yiwu, a city in Zhejiang province, China, to Moscow via Mongolia, thus expanding the geography of inland services between China and Russia.

The first train with imported cargo was launched on December 29, 2018. It arrives at its destination on January 11, 2019. The total tranzit time is 14 days, which is 3 times faster than through the Suez Canal.

Fire in container-train wagons

In Thursday (Nov. 8) night a major fire broke out in two wagons of a goods train on the Mumbai-Gujarat route. As a result, the rail operations were disrupted for nearly 10 hours. Train services were restored Friday morning.

The incident on the 45-container-long train, headed toward JNPT, occured between Dahanu Road and Vangaon around 10:30 pm on the Mumbai-bound line. However, the Gujarat-bound line was also closed for traffic, as an extra safety measure.
