CVSA International Roadcheck just around the corner

Every year the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance conducts International Roadcheck. This year, it’s scheduled for May 14-16 across Canada and Mexico as well as the U.S. The program typically has one main focus each year in addition to making sure vehicles are roadworthy. But this year, the CVSA has chosen two focus areas, in addition to a normal inspection: tractor protection systems and alcohol and controlled substances.

Legal noose tightens around MSC Gayane drug gang (with free court docs)

A third seafarer has pled guilty in the spectacular plot to use a large container ship and many of its crew to transport massive volumes of cocaine from South America to Europe.

Authorities swarmed the vessel, the MSC Gayane, during a June 2019 call in Philadelphia. In one of the largest drug busts in U.S. history, they found almost 20 tons of cocaine worth over $1 billion.

To put that in perspective, the cocaine haul weighed as much as three adult male African elephants.
