MacGregor to supply cranes for Manson dredge newbuild

Manson Construction Company’s 15,000-cubic-yard capacity, 420 foot long, hopper dredge Frederick Paup is to be equipped with MacGregor telescopic cranes.

Currently under construction at the Keppel AmFELS shipyard in Brownsville, Texas, the vessel will be the largest self-propelled hopper dredge in the U.S, on delivery.

MacGregor, part of Cargotec, will deliver two 120 foot double telescopic service cranes and one 50 foot telescopic stores crane for the vessel.

[Watch] The Three New Giant Cranes Go Up

The three cranes, reportedly now the largest in North America, stand 442 feet tall and move with “greater efficiency” than the smaller models already at the Port, says an article published in SFIST.

The cranes are capable of lifting containers up to 174 feet above the dock, and reach 225 feet across cargo ship decks.
