WinGD offers new LPG “pre-fit” option for operators aiming for ammonia trade

The global market for ammonia is poised to triple in the coming decades with nearly all of the growth coming from low-carbon ammonia, according to a recent analysis by S&P Global Commodity Insights. With ships already under construction for the trade, Swiss-headquartered engine developer WinGD has introduced an option for its X-DF-A ammonia-fueled engines to be delivered capable of running on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

China-designed vessel would top all containerships

China’s state-owned shipyard announced a prospective design for what would be the world’s largest containership.

China State Shipbuilding Corp.’s (CSSC) Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute said it has received approval in principle for a liquefied natural gas dual-fuel vessel of 27,500 twenty-foot equivalent units.

CMB.TECH and WinGD move ahead on ammonia-fueled bulkers

CMB.TECH, the clean tech division of Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB), and CSSC group member WinGD have signed an agreement that will see WinGD X72DF‑A ammonia-fueled engines power a series of 210,000 dwt bulkers to be delivered through 2025 and 2026 to CMB Group member Bocimar. Other signatories to the agreement are CSSC Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding (QBS), which will build the ammonia-fueled bulkers, and CSSC Engine Co (CSE), which will build the engines.
