Danish ocean carrier Maersk has added the port of Guangzhou (Nansha) to the schedule of its SH2 between China and Bangladesh, while it has also removed the Taiwanese ports of Kaohsiung and Keelung.

The revised port rotation of the service will now be Ningbo (China), Shanghai (China), Tanjung Pelepas (Malaysia), Chittagong (Bangladesh), Mongla (Bangladesh), Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore, Guangzhou, Nansha (China) and back to Ningbo.

Ocean carriers change Middle East – Indian Subcontinent services

CStar, CU Lines and UGL have expanded their cooperative efforts, forming a joint service known as the IMR, which CStar brands as MER1. CU Lines buys maiden in-service ship for new service from Wan Hai

China United Lines (CU Lines) has acquired its first in-service ship. The Chinese state-controlled liner operator had been operating liner services with chartered vessels, until it acquired a ship from Wan Hai Lines.

The 1,368TEU CUL Huizhou (ex Wan Hai 213) was purchased on 6 August and entered CU Lines’ fleet this month. The purchase price was undisclosed but the 1993-built ship had a market value of around US$9 million at the time of the transaction.

CULines executing more Asia-Europe services

The success of China United Lines’ one-off Asia-Europe service was such that the carrier will add more sailings after its first service was sold out in February.

CULines’ first Asia-Europe trip saw the Chinese carrier chartering the 2,702TEU Laila, arranged in collaboration with Xstaff, a German-based purchasing train for European do-it-yourself and supermarket chains.
