Fleet Technology to Keep Fleets Prepared For CVSA Safety Blitzes in 2025

Every year, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has a series of safety enforcement initiatives to identify unsafe vehicles and drivers, reduce crashes, and promote compliance with federal regulations. These blitzes, which occur across the United States, Canada and Mexico, involve thousands of inspectors conducting roadside inspections, reviewing driver records and assessing vehicle conditions.

For fleets, these initiatives can be a make-or-break moment. Failing an inspection can lead...

CVSA conducted hazmat inspections without forewarning

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance has compiled the results of its second-ever hazardous material/dangerous goods (HM/DG) inspection in the U.S., which is notable for its advance warning process: It doesn’t have one.

Unlike the broad-based Roadcheck Week or Brake Safety Week, the latter for which the CVSA just announced the 2021 results, the HM/DG inspection was conducted unannounced June 21-25. The results were just recently disclosed.

CVSA Brake Safety Week starts Sunday, Aug. 23

Inspectors will be out in full force starting Sunday, August 23, as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) annual Brake Safety Week.

Throughout that week, officials will conduct roadside inspections on commercial motor vehicles throughout North America. This year, CVSA inspectors will focus on brake hoses and tubing. Commercial vehicles found to have critical brake violations will be placed out-of-service (OSS) until repairs are made.
