The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is warning customers that a vendor it uses to verify personal and commercial vehicle registration addresses was targeted by a ransomware attack in early February.

Forward Air takes financial hit from cyberattack

Forward Air has put specific numbers on the financial blow it took in the fourth quarter from the cyberbattack that hit its operations in mid-December. 

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Forward Air (NASDAQ: FWRD) said its net income per diluted share from continuing operations will be 53 cents to 55 cents in the fourth quarter. Its earlier estimate on EPS for the quarter was 71 cents to 75 cents. 

Net income in the quarter last year was 85 cents per share.

Ransomware attack hits short line rail operator OmniTRAX

Colorado-based short line rail operator and logistics provider OmniTRAX was hit by a recent ransomware attack and data theft that targeted its corporate parent, Broe Group.
