Fire on boxship in Houston kills two seafarers, injures one

Two seafarers died and another crewman was hurt after a fire broke out in the engine room of the 2,174 TEU container ship Stride.

COSCO Shipping Lines had chartered Stride from Danaos Corporation to operate a service connecting the US port Houston with Guatemala, Honduras and Colombia. The service, launched in June 2021 to target reefer cargoes, is jointly operated with CMA CGM, which contributes two chartered vessels.

Post-panamax container ship leaks fuel oil in Vancouver’s English Bay

The Canadian Coast Guard reported that they tracked a slick of approximately 60 to 100 litres from the initial release of fuel from the 8,500 TEU container ship Europe owned by Danaos Corporation.

Danaos representative confirmed the incident pointing out that the flow of oil has stopped. The investigations about what caused the oil spill are still ongoing, according to the Greek company’s spokesperson.

Αύξηση εσόδων σε ποσοστό 71,37% κατέγραψε το β’ τρίμηνο του 2022 η εισηγμένη στη χρηματαγορά της Νέας Υόρκης Danaos Corp σε σύγκριση με το αντίστοιχο χρονικό διάστημα του 2021. Πιο συγκεκριμένα, η εταιρεία συμφερόντων δρ Ιωάννη Κούστα είχε έσοδα 250,9 εκατομμυρίων δολαρίων έναντι 146,4 εκατ.

Η αύξηση είναι κατά 62 εκατομμύρια δολάρια και οφείλεται στην ανοδική πορεία των ναύλων. Επιπλέον 23 εκατομμύρια προέκυψαν από την ενίσχυση του στόλου της.
