ABS wins digital twin FPSO condition monitoring contract

ABS has secured a contract to provide and test a digital twin solution for real-time condition monitoring for a Petrobras floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit.

The ABS solution will provide a digital twin of the asset, and as part of the project, ABS has selected Akselos S.A. to deploy the Akselos structural performance management software that will be evaluated over the course of a year by monitoring one of the four FPSO units in the Cessão Onerosa oil field.

Incat to use SSI shipbuilding software for giant Buquebús cat

Incat Tasmania, which is building the world’s largest battery electric ferry for long time customer Buquebús , will use shipbuilding software from Victoria, B.C,, based SSI in the project.

New DNV GL rules add digital and smart ship notations

With ships evolving into sophisticated sensor hubs, generating data and connecting through satellites in an expanding interconnected web, DNV GL is adding a new chapter to its rules for ship classification: Digital Features. The new chapter was launched with three new notations (D-INF, DDV, REW) on October 28 and will enter into force on January 1, 2021. In addition, a new Smart vessel notation (Smart)—a framework for assessing and visualizing digital vessel features—was introduced.
