Distribution centers in Hurricane Milton’s path recalibrate ahead of landfall

Food retailers with distribution hubs in Hurricane Milton’s path are preparing for the storm to make landfall overnight Wednesday. 

It is unclear precisely where Milton will come ashore, but the National Hurricane Center says it will be somewhere along the west-central Florida coast. Then it will move across the state into the Atlantic Ocean. Many retailers have distribution centers across the midstate that could see an impact from the hurricane.

8 charged in beer heist targeting Northeast trains, distribution centers

Eight men from the Bronx face federal charges in a beer-theft scheme in which prosecutors say the men swiped the booze from railroad cars and distribution facilities in the Northeast. 

The suspects, indicted by a federal grand jury in the Southern District of New York, had a penchant for Corona and Modelo beers shipped from Mexico, the indictment says. They allegedly made off with the booze in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.

CP, Maersk ink deal to develop Vancouver transload and distribution facility

Canadian Pacific (NYSE: CP) and Maersk have agreed to build a “world-class” transload and distribution facility at CP’s intermodal facility in Vancouver, British Columbia, that will be ready to serve customers in 2021.

As part of the agreement, CP will shuttle the containers of Maersk’s customers to and from the ocean terminals at the Port of Vancouver. The arrangement “will rely on the substantial use of rail instead of truck in the Vancouver market,” the parties said.
