DP World to transform Dominican Republic into vital logistics hub

DP World has inaugurated the expansion of the main berth at the DP World Caucedo port terminal, which will more than double port capacity from 1.2 million TEU to 2.5 million TEU per year.

ONE addition equals eight new South American destinations for JAXPORT

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) said its customers now have access to a new container service to the West Coast of South America through Ocean Network Express (ONE).

ONE has added Rodman, Panama, as a port of call on its EC1 U.S. East Coast service, connecting JAXPORT’s TraPac Container Terminal at Dames Point in Jacksonville, Florida, to eight new destinations in South America.

Metal Shark delivers 85′ patrol boat to the Dominican Republic

Shipbuilder Metal Shark has delivered an 85’x19.5′ welded aluminum Near Coastal Patrol Vessel (NCPV) to the Dominican Republic’s navy.

Christened “Betelgeuse” in keeping with the Dominican tradition of naming military vessels after constellations, the new patrol craft was built at Metal Shark’s Franklin, La., shipyard and officially incorporated into the Dominican navy during a ceremony at the Las Calderas Navy Base on Aug. 6.

DP World volumes decrease, portfolio increases

DP World reported Monday that 2020 first-half volumes were down 3.9% from the same period last year and that it had acquired a 60% stake in UNICO Logistics.

DP World Ltd. handled 33.9 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) across its global portfolio of container terminals in the first half of 2020, with gross container volumes decreasing 5.3% year-over-year on a reported basis and 3.9% on a like-for-like basis.
