DP World takes over Silk Logistics for US$115 million

DP World Australia has entered into a binding Scheme Implementation Deed for the acquisition of the issued share capital of Silk Logistics Holdings Limited via a Scheme of Arrangement with a cash offer of A$2.14 per share.

Victoria’s box terminals to standardize landside pricing tariffs

Following discussions led by the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning (DTP), all three container terminals based in Victoria—DP World Australia, Patrick Terminals, and Victoria International Container Terminal (VICT)—have agreed to amend the Victorian Voluntary Pricing Protocol.

Maritime Union of Australia and DP World end dispute with major deal

Australian industry breathed a sigh of relief with the news that dockers and terminal operator DP World had agreed a four-year deal which would see year-on-year pay increases while also allowing for 24-hour terminal operations.

The dispute has been ongoing since last October and has caused a backlog of over 50,000 containers to be built at DPW’s four terminals, the acrimonious dispute had split industry opinion with carriers backing the terminal operator and unions finding support from ministers.

DP World Australia’s Sydney Terminal has achieved the milestone of handling its one-millionth TEU in early November which occurred across 345 vessels, at an average exchange of 1,793 units.
