DEA makes record $45M meth bust in Dallas area

The Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) Dallas field office recently announced the biggest seizure of methamphetamine in the branch’s history.

The meth — 1,930 pounds valued at $45 million — was found during a traffic stop involving a refrigerated tractor-trailer off Interstate 35 in Denton County, Texas, the DEA said Wednesday.

The 663 packages of drugs had been stashed in a secret compartment underneath the truck. Officials said the truck was empty.

Two major drug busts tied to cross-border trucking

Officials in California and Texas recently announced two major drug seizures involving cross-border trucking operations along the United States-Mexico border.

On Tuesday, federal charges against three Mexican nationals “suspected of trafficking huge quantities of illicit drugs for the Sinaloa Cartel” into Southern California from Mexico were announced by U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California Robert Brewer.

Laredo CBP seizes narcotics worth $3M

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at two South Texas ports of entry seized narcotics valued at over $3 million in separate cases last week.

The first case occurred Nov. 5 at the Colombia-Solidarity Bridge in Laredo when officers checked a truck hauling a shipment of cutting machines arriving from Mexico. Officers said they found 149.12 pounds of alleged methamphetamine hidden inside buckets within the shipment.

Trucker held in US-Canada marijuana case asks court to let him go home

Texas trucker involved in high-speed chase pleads guilty to drug charge

A truck driver who led authorities on a wild chase in South Texas has pleaded guilty to a drug charge.

On April 20, Christopher Sedrick Brown, 46, of Houston, arrived in a tractor-trailer at the U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint on Interstate 35 north of Laredo, Texas.

Packages of suspected cocaine seized by Canada Border Services Agency officers from a truck crossing from the United States. The truck driver was arrested.

A trucker was arrested after Canadian border officers found more than $10 million worth of suspected cocaine during an inspection of a tractor-trailer coming from the United States, authorities said on Thursday.
