Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame on Monday officially inaugurated a dry port Kigali Logistics Platform, Rwanda’s largest inland cargo handling facility, in the capital city of Kigali, as the landlocked country bids to become a regional logistics hub.

The platform also hosts a 2,500-square meter bonded warehouse of Rwanda Digital Trading Hub of Alibaba Electronic World Trade Platform (eWTP) Yiwu Global Innovation Center.

Zambia signs deal for new dry port

Zambia has signed a 146.5-million-U.S. dollar agreement with Africa Inland Container Depot (AFICD) of Tanzania on the establishment of a dry port in the central town of Kapiri Mposhi, its investment agency said on Friday.

The agreement will see the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), the investment arm of the Zambian government, holding 15 percent of shares in the project while the Tanzanian firm holds 85 percent.

Tanzania: Dry port’s plans are underway

Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) said on Monday, Feb. 11, plans were underway to build a dry port in the east African nation’s northern tourist city of Arusha to serve importers and exporters in the northern regions and neighboring countries.

KATHMANDU, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) — The construction of an international dry port has begun in Nepal’s Kathmandu Valley.

Dry Port development efforts in Thailand

UDON THANI – Efforts are under way to push for an inland container depot (ICD), known in the shipping industry as “a dry port”, to be developed in the northeastern province.

On Wednesday (Jan. 2), a panel set up by the provincial governor held its first meeting to draw up a proposal for the project.
