History

Acme Truck Line, Inc. is an industry leader with a fleet of more than 1,500 trucks, more than 40 service points, and nationwide and Canadian operating authorities. 

The Acme of 2022 is a nationwide operation headquartered in Gretna, Louisiana. According to the company’s website, its success is due to its pledge – “Serve our customers by keeping their freight moving safely and on time with the best and most highly trained employees in our industry.”

Landstar beats recently raised guidance

Truck broker Landstar System Inc. (NASDAQ: LSTR) experienced quite the turnaround during the third quarter, reporting earnings per share (EPS) of $1.61, 19 cents higher than the consensus estimate and 26 cents higher year-over-year.

The Jacksonville, Florida-based company’s original guidance called for loads and revenue per load to decline in the mid-single-digit range year-over-year, but by the close of July they were only off 1% and 2%, respectively. By the first week of August, both metrics...

Truck traffic normalizes at faster speeds with less hard braking

Truck traffic is about back to normal on the nation’s highways and interstates, according to a study of 130 million trips by fleet management solutions provider Samsara Networks’ 15,000 customers. Two safety-related items stand out:

More speeding.

Less hard braking.

Samsara looked at traffic and driving before, during and after lockdowns across the United States. It also sampled five cities: Atlanta, New York City, Chicago, Houston and San Francisco. Speeding jumped 40% in those cities early April...
