Eastern Shipbuilding launches second tug for Bisso Offshore

On Jan. 31, 2020, Eastern Shipbuilding Group Inc. launched the second of two 80’x38’x13’2″ 5,100-hp Z-drive tugs, the A. Thomas Higgins, for Bisso Offshore LLC, a division of E.N. Bisso & Son Inc. The RAL RApport 2400 ship handling tug design was provided by Robert Allan Ltd. Vancouver, British Columbia. The tug is currently under construction at Eastern’s Allanton facility. The C.D. White, the first vessel of the series, was delivered in January.

New designs and new features for towing winches

Recently, Markey Machinery sent several winches to Gulf Island Shipyard for various Robert Allan Ltd. (RAL) designed tugboats. That includes two newly designed winches for an RAL Tundra 3600 Ice-class 1A tug, the Seaway Guardian, being built at the Jennings, La., shipyard for the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (SLSDC).

Eastern Shipbuilding delivers, Tier 4, Sub M escort tug to E.N. Bisso

Eastern Shipbuilding Group Inc., Panama City, Fla., announced it delivered the first of two 80’x38’x13’2″, 5,100-hp Z-drive tugs — C.D. White — for Bisso Offshore LLC, a division of E.N. Bisso & Son Inc. on Jan. 8, 2020.

The vessel has completed its bollard pull testing witnessed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and received its USCG Subchapter M Certificate of Inspection (COI).
