At 6.6 on the Richter scale this strong earthquake a 11:51 GMT was felt even in Athens, Crete and other areas of Greece as well as in the Anatolian coast – Minor Asia, with buildings there collapsing. A small tsunami followed flooding the streets at the port of Vathi in Samos – looked like the aftermath of a torrential rain .
