It is time for brokers to leverage integrations as selling points

Connectivity has become a hot topic in the logistics industry. Shippers are increasingly embracing integrations as a way to connect with partners, save money and automate tasks. That means brokers are being pushed to up their integration game.

Bitfreighter CEO, Brad Perling, founded the company with the goal of helping brokers scale integrations and provide the connectivity shippers crave.

“I felt there was nobody out there that really wanted to help brokerages do that,” Perling said. “It is...

No-code EDI provider Crstl announces national launch

The supply chain isn’t what it used to be. With more and more sales taking place online, retail brands have started to meet them there by digitizing their own processes, from order management to procurement.

When consumers first began to shift online, the problem among brands was reaching them there. But now, with the rise of marketplaces and online retail, brands have an incentive to digitize not just for customers but for other businesses.

Crstl, which announced its nationwide launch Tuesday,...

EDI still proves to be powerful solution for carrier-shipper connections

If you don’t know what electronic data interchange (EDI) is, it’s likely you’ve at least heard it mentioned by one of your supply chain partners at some point.

EDI has been the front-running choice for internal information sharing between shippers and carriers for decades. It allows two companies to efficiently transmit data electronically between internal systems, removing the need for data entry or phone calls that would have previously been required. EDI is how a carrier, for instance, can...

Automating rate contract management illuminates pathway to profitability

Truck driving on desert highway

By Larry Kerr, president of EBE Technologies

Receiving rate contracts has not changed much over the years. They arrive through EDI, email, load boards and even fax. Ideally, all rate contracts would be EDI based. EDI — electronic data interchange — provides centralized visibility and allows triggers to be set to always accept specific offers based on lane, shipper and commodity codes. In addition, changes in pickup or delivery times and other load-related data are automatically made available...
