UP.Partners’ Moving World Report breaks down transportation’s past,  present and future

Just about any time a new, groundbreaking technology takes off, comparisons to the internet are inevitable and seldom warranted. The smartphone industry, for example, could be considered a case of the latter.

But the modern mobility industry may be an even better comparison.

Transportation companies are everywhere, and they’re growing their presence more and more each year. Mobility providers, including freight forwarders, supply chain managers, asset trackers and financial services providers...

The Sharonville, Ohio-based company on Wednesday revealed that it had avoided action from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission after battling the agency’s accusations of fraud for over a year.

The firm also announced it was scrapping its C1000 electric delivery van line in favor of heavier focus on its W4 CC, W750 and W56 models, the latter of which is slated to enter...

Lyft drivers to receive discounted charging with EVgo

One of the core advantages of owning an electric vehicle over a gas-powered one is that, despite the higher upfront cost, charging and maintaining it is typically significantly less expensive.

For Lyft (NASDAQ: LYFT) drivers, it just got even cheaper when the company on Tuesday, announced a new discounted charging program with EVgo Inc. (NASDAQ: EVGO), which operates one of the nation’s largest networks of fast-charging stations for EVs.

The offer will give drivers up to 45% off when they charge...

Ford to supply 2,000 electric delivery vans to DHL by end of 2023

Despite the rollout of a $40,000 tax credit for businesses looking to purchase electric vehicles — courtesy of the implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act in August — and a steady push for fleet electrification, the EV industry hasn’t yet captured that lightning in a bottle.

It’ll take some time for most small and midsize transportation companies to enter the EV playing field because of the costs and logistics of electrifying an entire fleet.

But for the bigger firms, the game is well...

Last-mile operations slow to adopt EVs, lack sustainability measurement tools

Despite the obvious fit for last-mile operations, few organizations are adopting electric vehicles although interest remains high.

Short routes that allow for vehicles to be home nightly have been identified as an ideal fit for EVs, but a new report from DispatchTrack found that while 85% of supply chain organizations would consider adding EVs to save on fuel costs, only 14% are currently deploying them or plan to do so in the near term.
