Brazil approves Embraer structural modification for E190 freighter

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer says its engineering design to convert the E190 regional passenger jet into a freighter has been certified by Brazil’s civil aviation authority.

The announcement came Tuesday during the Farnborough airshow in England, where the new E-Freighter was unveiled to the public for the first time. The show has not spurred any orders so far.

Embraer notches 1st sale for E-Jet freighter conversions

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer has received its first firm order for up to 10 conversions of the E190/E195 passenger jet to a freighter from an undisclosed customer, underscoring the continued strong demand for all-cargo aircraft of all sizes even as the global economy begins to cool down.

Aircraft for conversion will come from the customer’s current E-Jet fleet. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2024, Embraer said in a news release Friday.

Lufthansa invests in next-gen Boeing 777-8 freighters

Lufthansa Cargo will be the second customer for Boeing’s next-generation freighter, the 777-8, after announcing on Monday the largest investment in company history with an order for 10 large cargo jets that will increase capacity by two-thirds over the next decade.
