MOL equips 80 bulk carriers with energy saving technology

MOL will retrofit 80 of its operated bulkcarriers with a new service called NAPA Fleet Intelligence with Noon Report (NAPA FI) developed by NAPA Ltd. NAPA FI uses information from the vessel’s logs and AIS, to analyze propulsion performance.

NAPA FI verifies the effects of measures to limit GHG emissions from MOL-operated vessels, such as more effective engine output control, timely measures for hull and propellers maintenance to avoid reduction of propulsion.

MOL expects NAPA FI to improve...

Project Forward paves the way for IMO´s CO2 emissions target

The Project Forward initiative led by Athens-Based Arista Shipping, with Finnish Wärtsilä as one of the participants, demonstrates that with LNG as fuel, an advanced hull design, and highly efficient propulsion machinery, it will be possible to meet the IMO’s target for a 40% reduction in carbon intensity by 2030.

Model tests of the Project’s concept vessel indicate that the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) is well below the currently most stringent Phase III level. The EEDI reflects the...

IEA: Energy efficiency policies can reduce GHG emissions by 40%

A world wide attempt to use the right energy efficiency policies could lead greenhouse gas emissions to peak quickly and then decrease. This could happen even as the global economy doubles between now and 2040, IEA’s Energy Efficiency 2018 report.

Energy Efficiency 2018 analyzes ways to improve global energy efficiency to 2040, concluding that efficiency alone could allow the world to extract twice as much economic value from the energy it uses compared to today.

This analysis comes as the Intergo...

Digitalization will drive the future of energy transition

Digitalization is not new, but it’s development is happening fast across all industries, as it is becoming a vital part of the energy system and the energy transition. In fact, digital technologies will make power systems worldwide more connected, intelligent, efficient, DNV GL’s Energy Transition Outlook mentions.

Digitalization will make energy more reliable, and sustainable. Smart grids are already better in safety, productivity, accessibility, and sustainability of power systems. In...
