Patriot Offshore wins 10-year Jones Act CTV contract

Patriot Offshore Maritime Services, N.Y., a subsidiary of Liberty Green Logistics based in Lake Success, N.Y., reports that it has been awarded a U.S. industry defining, ten-year crew transfer vessel (CTV) services contract with Equinor’s Empire Offshore Wind LLC.

The vessel will service Equinor’s New York offshore wind farm during the construction and O&M phases of the project. The Jones Act qualified CTV will be constructed in a U.S. shipyard and will commence operations in 2026.

Offshore wind: Equinor now Ørsted’s second largest shareholder

In a move involving two Scandinavian companies who are significant players in the U.S. offshore energy sector, Norway’s Equinor ASA has acquired 41,197,344 shares in Denmark’s Ørsted A/S, corresponding to 9.8% of the shares and votes in the Danish company.

The transaction establishes Equinor as the second largest shareholder in Ørsted, after the Danish State, which holds a controlling stake in the company. Equinor is, itself, 67% owned by the Government of Norway.

Two established U.S. offshore wind players, Equinor and Dominion Energy, were the winners in today’s Central Atlantic offshore wind lease sale.

The sale, details of which were announced in June, was the fifth held during the Biden administration. It attracted $92.65 million in winning bids for two lease areas offshore the states of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
