FreightWise, a provider of transportation management systems, has announced a deal with less-than-truckload carrier Estes that is also notable because FreightWise is using the transaction to reboot the Kuebix TMS platform that it acquired in late 2023.

Judge OKs sale of Yellow terminals to Estes, R+L Carriers

Two separate purchase agreements representing $192.5 million of Yellow Corp.’s real estate were blessed by a federal bankruptcy judge in Delaware on Wednesday.

Richmond, Virginia-based less-than-truckload carrier Estes is buying 11 terminals, four of which are leased, from defunct Yellow (OTC: YELLQ) for $142.5 million. The larger properties in the sale include a 216-door terminal in Cincinnati, 198 doors near Chattanooga, Tennessee, and 167 doors in Tracy, California.

Latest Yellow terminal sales to fetch $192.5M

Offers for $192.5 million of Yellow Corp.’s real estate are before a federal bankruptcy court, according to a Tuesday filing. Privately held less-than-truckload carriers Estes and R+L Carriers are the named suitors.

LTL survey: Daylight Transport No. 1 overall, Old Dominion top national carrier

Daylight Transport was named the top overall less-than-truckload carrier in Mastio & Co.’s annual value and loyalty survey. Old Dominion Freight Line again received top honors among national carriers, a Tuesday report revealed.

The top 5 carriers in the overall group also included Averitt Express (No. 2), Old Dominion (No. 3), Peninsula (No. 4) and Dayton Freight Lines (No. 5). Averitt Express won the category last year and Peninsula was the winner in 2022.

Estes acquires 7 leased terminals from Yellow

Privately owned less-than-truckload carrier Estes announced it has closed on lease purchases of seven terminals previously operated by now-defunct Yellow Corp.

The Richmond, Virginia-based company said Thursday that the new locations will result in a net increase of 290 doors to its national network of 11,832. Estes has added 508 doors this year, a 4.5% increase from the end of 2023. It plans to add 940 more within the next nine months.

Estes said it remains debt-free following the transaction.

Estes to open at least 20 terminals this year

Less-than-truckload carrier Estes said Monday it will start opening terminals it has acquired from defunct Yellow Corp. as part of a “national expansion.”

The carrier acquired 24 service centers for $249 million at Yellow’s (OTC: YELLQ) first auction, which concluded in early December. It picked up five leased properties for $35 million at a second auction a couple of weeks later.

A second lot of Yellow’s terminals have found new homes, according to a Wednesday filing in a Delaware bankruptcy court. The latest auction for a portion of the defunct less-than-truckload carrier’s leased properties raked in $83 million across 23 locations.
