Ever Forward finally moves on

The Ever Forward was refloated in Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay on Sunday, 35 days after it ran aground after sailing from the Port of Baltimore.

“Refloating the Ever Forward, which was hard aground outside of the navigation channel along the entire length of the ship’s hull, required extensive coordination of responders and involved the development and implementation of a comprehensive salvage plan, including dredging and push-and-pull tugboat operations,” the U.S. Coast Guard, which coordinated...

2nd plan to refloat container ship moving forward

The Coast Guard said there is a revised strategy to refloat the Ever Forward, and the second attempt to get the grounded container ship out of Chesapeake Bay could take more than two weeks.

“Salvage experts determined they would not be able to overcome the ground force of the Ever Forward in its current loaded condition. The new strategy offers the best chance of successfully refloating the Ever Forward,” the Coast Guard said in a press release Monday. It is working with the Maryland Department...

Almost one year later, another boxship operated by the Taiwanese carrier Evergreen has suffered a similar incident. However, the situation seems better this time. Although the 2020-built container ship remains stuck from 13 March in the Chesapeake Bay,...
