2M partners expand their fleet

2M partners plan to add a vessel to the MEDGULF/TA6 service, in order to enhance reliability especially during the forthcoming winter season. Maersk Line and MSC will increase the service’s fleet. Eight (8) vessels will be used by the two shipping giants.

Crewmember felt overboard in the sea – Search suspended

Rescuers suspended the search for a 35-year-old man who fell overboard from a container vessel in the shipping channel between Staten Island and Brooklyn, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

Halterm terminal planned to be expaned

The controversial plan by the Halifax Port Authority to temporarily extend the berth at the Halterm container terminal, is reported to be moving ahead as planned.

A -42 sunken containers- search in Newcastle

A search to locate 42 sunken shipping containers to ensure safe paths for fishing trawlers has resumed near Newcastle.

The YM Efficiency, a Taiwan-operated, Liberian-flagged cargo ship, lost 81 containers and had another 62 damaged during rough weather about 30km east of Newcastle on June 1.

An initial search in late June and July was able to locate less than half of the lost load.
