Federal Maritime Commission dropping DEI from strategic plan

Following President Donald Trump’s sweeping executive order reshaping development of the federal workforce, the Federal Maritime Commission has eliminated portions of its 2022-2026 strategic plan that focus on diversity, equity and inclusion.

Sola designated Chairman of Federal Maritime Commission

President Donald J. Trump has designated Louis E. “Lou” Sola to serve as the Chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC).

Chairman Sola has served as a Commissioner of the FMC since January 2019, and he succeeds Daniel B. Maffei as Chairman. The Chairman is the chief executive and administrative officer of the Commission.

Sola to head Federal Maritime Commission

Louis Sola has been designated by President Donald Trump as chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission.

Sola, a Republican, has served as an FMC commissioner since 2019 when he was nominated during the first Trump administration.

The FMC is an independent federal agency responsible for regulating international ocean commerce as it relates to U.S. interests.

FMC ruling stalls launch of box ship Premier Alliance

The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) on Friday issued a ruling that put on hold plans by containership operators Ocean Network Express (ONE), HMM and Yang Ming to launch the Premier Alliance this week. FMC upholds ruling upending current chassis pool system

Long-standing practices for feeding chassis into intermodal markets have been dealt another blow in legal proceedings before the Federal Maritime Commission.
