The Republic of Marshall Islands shared the requirements for the design, installation, and operation of Recreational Fire Appliances (RFAs) onboard RMI-flagged yachts, says an article published by Safety 4 Sea.

Recreational Fire Appliances (RFAs) means fireplaces that use wood, ethanol, or LPG as a primary fuel source or for ignition purposes. They include charcoal galley ovens, LPG or charcoal fire barbeques, spit roasts and fire pits.

UK MAIB warning: Sudden discharge of condensed aerosol fire extinguishing system leads to fatality

The UK MAIB issued a safety bulletin highlighting a potentially serious hazard associated with condensed aerosol firefighting suppressant particles. The warning came after a relevant fatal accident on the fishing vessel ‘Resurgam’, in November 2019.

Key points of the IMO SSE 7 outcome

Coconut charcoal to have caused the fire on Yantian Express

Paris MoU issuing deficiencies over firefighting outfits

Paris MoU is issuing deficiencies over firefighting outfits, the Republic of the Marshall Islands Maritime Administration (RMI) warned in a new advisory to shipping. Containership hit by fire off Mozambique

The container vessel “EM-Oinousses” experienced an engine room fire while it was sailing  from Maputo to Mombasa, which the crew was able to put out, but the vessel ended up sailing uncontrollable.
