Si la presión de la cadena de suministro se alivia por fin, ¿por qué la inflación es tan alta?

photo of supply chain contianers

If supply chain crunch is finally easing, why is inflation so high?

photo of supply chain contianers

The Fed and macro investors became intensely interested in chaos at the ports. The focus on bottlenecks spurred the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to create a new barometer called the Global Supply Chain Pressure Index (GSCPI) in January.

The implication was that if supply chain pressure reduced, inflation would ease. It hasn’t worked out that way.

The GSCPI (data here),...

With plenty of money and lots of runway, Flexport hands the reins to Clark

Flexport may not have needed a new hand at the tiller to take its business to the next level. Come Sept. 1, however, it’s getting one.

The hiring of Dave Clark, who departs his remarkable 23-year gig at Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) on July 1 to become the San Francisco-based freight forwarder’s new CEO, marks the end of an era, though a relatively brief one. For nine years, Flexport reflected the flamboyant persona of its founder, Ryan Petersen. It is now expected to settle into a more mature...

Container shipping at the crossroads: The big unwind or party on?

container shipping

Is faltering consumer demand curbing imports, allowing port congestion to finally ease, releasing ship capacity and causing spot ocean rates to sink? Is this the beginning of “the big unwind”?

Or does waning West Coast port congestion stem from temporarily lower exports out of China due to COVID lockdowns, combined with a congestion shift toward East Coast ports? Is the economy still strong and the ocean freight market still fundamentally firm, with the port crunch to worsen in the second half,...
